Weight loss means to reduce the whole body composition. Though, it is not indicted if through reducing fat or water content and
whether it is intentional or not, it is still refers to as weight loss. There are times when you are sick, which
might cause you to unintentional, lose weight and there are times when you lose
weight because you are dieting and exercising at the same time. Unintentional weight loss is a bad signed
since that means that it won’t be good for the body.
Whenever
you are losing weight, you might lose fat or muscles, or sometimes a
combination of these. If you like to
lose weight since it is becoming a problem for you, you might try to exercise
and diet to lose weight.
Unintentional
Weight Loss
This is when you are losing weight even though; you are not
trying to lose weight. In most cases,
this could mean that you are sick and would require the guidance of an expert
in the field.
A good example are those with type 1 diabetes since they
lose weight even though they are not trying.
Now, that might sound something like a dream for those who want to lose
weight, but actually, this would be a nightmare even for them since your body
would burn the fat and muscle for energy consumption. Your body can’t use the glucose stored in the
food that you use. Such condition needs
the immediate attention of a doctor.
As stated before, there are other conditions that can cause
unintentional weight loss. This might
mean that you have HIV infection, hormonal
imbalances like overactive thyroid gland, and even some forms of cancers.
A question you should be asking yourself is when to see a
doctor when you lose weight without even trying. You need to be concerned if you lose five percent of your body weight
in a month or ten percent over six months.
Intentional
Weight Loss
This is the
more familiar type of weight loss since many people want to lose weight
deliberately because they want to be healthier.
Most people know this as therapeutic weight loss since it helps people
to improve not only their physical appearance, but also their health.
There are
lots of diseases that has been connected with obesity and intentional weight could
greatly improve your condition. These
conditions are serious and you need to do something about it. Such illnesses
are diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and cholesterol, and
arthritis.
Maybe, you
don’t have such diseases, but just want to look better or perhaps, you just
want to move better. Intentional weight
loss is what you need. Eating less food
and moving more is what you need to do to lose a little weight. Things would be
better for you and you would one day be able to participate in some sports
activities that you use to dream of since you can’ participate in them.
However,
you should always remember that crash diet won’t help you at all since that
would only result to something bad.
Sure, you might lose a few pounds, but can you keep it up for a long
time? Also, there are severe side
effects that your body can suffer from by following a restrictive diet.
